Benefits for Students

A central goal of Program Link is providing outstanding online and in-person services for students. Wake Forest is taking a number of steps as part of Program Link to achieve this goal, including the following:

    • Hardware & software upgrades. Program Link will replace software and hardware that have served the University for many years. The new hardware and software will offer more functionality and capabilities, allowing Wake Forest to offer expanded and more efficient services for students. Implementation of more robust and efficient administrative software, more capable of handling high demand than the existing systems.
    • Procedure review and revision. As University offices prepare for implementing new administrative software, staff in each area are reviewing existing procedures to identify opportunities for simplifying administrative processes for students and for using the full potential of the new software and hardware to expand and refine their services for students.
    • Integration of information and processes. Program Link will provide the University with a fully integrated system for student records and information, offering more consistent, real-time information. In addition, this will allow increased coordination among University offices and processes that affect students.

In short, implementation of this integrated system presents a unique opportunity to make improvements that benefit students. The University's staff and senior administrators are committed to making the most of this opportunity.

Preparing for change

As noted above, one of the fundamental goals in Program Link is to improve administrative services for Wake Forest students. We are confident we will achieve that goal. Reaching that goal may, however, require changes in some familiar processes. The Program Link team will use various means to let students know about changes that affect them, depending on the significance of the change. Information will be provided via this web site and through electronic communications, training sessions, and/or presentations to student groups and student organizations, as needed.

Methodology

Each of Program Link's projects, and the overall Program Link initiative, will use standard project management methodologies as defined by the Project Management Institute, the leading non-profit professional association for project management. This methodology includes a number of measures to help ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and with all functionality promised at the time of the project's launch. A Steering Committee including representatives from all areas of the campus will oversee the activities of the Program Leadership team to ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of the University as a whole.
