Secret Societies

Two of Yale's secret societies, Skull and Bones, Scroll and Key. There are ten of these "tombs." In their prime, perhaps between 1870 and 1930, they were exclusive social clubs for upper class networking. Today approximately 200 undergraduates are selected, "tapped," for secret membership. The privileges, which extend to perhaps 18 seniors per society, include occasionally silly dress, dull dinner addresses on Thursday nights, and the joys of frat house intoxication without the vulgar stigma.
