King's Chapel

King's Chapel, the first Episcopalian Church in New England, built in 1749-54 under the leadership of a Yale man, the Reverend Henry Caner. Being Tory, the good Reverend fled on Evacuation Day (still a local legal holiday), 17 March 1776, when all of the Royal troops pulled out of Boston, bringing George Washington's siege of Boston to a successful end.
