Curriculum Vitae

Catherine E. Harnois joined the Department of Sociology at Wake Forest
as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2006. She completed her
undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut (2000) and her
M.A and Ph.D. (2005) at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Dr. Harnois’ research focuses on contemporary feminism and feminist
theory. She has investigated racial and ethnic differences in
contemporary feminism, as well as the factors that encourage women to
adopt feminist identities. Her work has appeared in the journals
Gender & Society, the National Women’s Studies Association Journal,
and Sociological Forum, in addition to other scholarly outlets. She
is currently writing a book which explores the implications of
multiracial feminist theory for social science survey research.

Dr. Harnois regularly teaches "Sociology of Gender" and “Social
Statistics,” and while at Wake Forest has also taught courses on the
Women’s Movement, Contemporary Families, and Social Problems.
