Women's Health Clinic

To deteremine the type of appointment you need if you are interested in a contraceptive prescrption or annual gynecological exam go to:
www.wfu.edu/shs/gyn

The Student Health Service has a Women's Health Clinic which provides primary gynecologic care including PAP smears, contraceptive advice and prescriptions, and screening for sexually transmitted diseases. Appointments are available on Wednesday and Thursday every week during the fall and spring semesters. Available times vary during the summer sessions.

Gynecological exams with a PAP smear are recommended yearly for women who have been sexually active for 3 years and for all women (regardless of sexual activity) over 21 years of age.

This exam is important for prevention of disease and wellness information, discovery of reproductive system abnormalities, screening for early cervical changes related to cervical cancers later in life, screening for vaginal infections and sexually transmitted diseases, contraceptive information and advice, and treatment of other individual women's health issues such as PMS, painful periods, etc.

The PAP smear, a cervical cancer screening test, is usually obtained during the gynecologic exam.

If you have questions about women's health issues (including gynecologic exams) you may make a 15-minute appointment with either Clarice Roth, Student Health Nurse Practitioner, at extension 5218 or Natascha Romeo, Health Educator, at extension 5937.

If you need a gynecological exam or want birth control prescribed, click here to determine what kind of appoinment to request.
