EDUCATION AND
TRAINING FOR THE INVESTIGATOR
All
investigators and other key personnel involved
in research with human
participants must complete the basic CITI (Collaborative
IRB Training Initiative)
curriculum for Human Subjects Research
To access the CITI modules, go to http://www.citiprogram.org. Remember to affiliate with Wake Forest University (WFU). If you are collaborating with researchers at WFUHS, you may choose both WFU and WFUHS as your affiliations. Select the basic CITI Human Subjects Research course that best correlates with the type of research proposed:
Group 1: Social/Humanistic/Behavioral
Research program for graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, and staff (9 modules);
average completion time = 4-6 hours. Certification is good for 5
years.
Group 2: Social/Humanistic/Behavioral
Research program for graduate and undergradute education students, faculty and staff (13 modules);
average
completion time = 6 hours. Certification is good for 5 years.
Additional CITI modules are required for some types of research (e.g., internet surveys, international, vulnerable populations).
Those key personnel who have completed training elsewhere may submit documentation of completion to Pam Moser. The Associate Provost for Research determines whether or not the training meets the requirements of Wake Forest University. |
