Vision
 
RPE strives to enhance and support teaching, research, and community engagement through the creative exchange of life-enhancing knowledge consistent with the highest standards of teaching, research and collaboration. RPE expresses the motto 'Pro Humanitate' with integrity and accountability.

Objectives
 
  • encourage and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration between Wake Forest University and diverse communities through culturally appropriate research, teaching, and the productive creation and exchange of life-enhancing knowledge and services according to the highest standards of scholarship and community well-being,
  • identify and pursue grants and endowments on behalf of collaborative research projects in support of diverse community needs, concerns, and interests, and
  • support and enhance the well-being of community members, students, faculty, staff, and administrators in culturally and academically appropriate ways, whether spiritually, intellectually, physically, or economically.

 

Recent Speakers and Events
  • Dr. Gordon Bronitsky - Indigenous World Markets
    and the Arts: Creating Entrepreneurial Networks
  • Founder and president of Bronitsky and Associates,
    which specializes in working with Indigenous talent
    around the world in international cultural marketing of
    traditional and contemporary art, music, and dance.
  • In May 2009, Bronitsky and Assoc. staged ORIGINS: First
    Nations Festival™, which brought Indigenous theater
    companies and performers from around the world to
    theaters and venues across London.
  • Currently partnering with Diné College, the tribal college
    of the Navajo Nation, to produce DinétahdééIiná Baahané‐
    Stories of Life from Navajoland—A Navajo Performing Arts Festival.

  • Sami Cultural Activist and Playwright, Harriet Nordlund - From Story to Play: A Theatre Improvisation Workshop.

  • Dr. Paul Lauritzen -Oncofertility and Catholic Teaching on Procreation: What will the Vatican say about new fertility-preservation technques for cancer patients?
  • Professor of Religious Studies and the Director of the Program in applied Ethisc at John Carroll University.
  • He is a Member of the Ethics advisory Committee fro the Oncofertility Project at Northwerster University and a Member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Religious Ethics.

  • Native Movement: A Night of Cherokee
  • The Raven Rock Dancers have rebitalized the stomp dance tradition for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians
  • The Warriors of Anikituhwa bring to life the Cherokee War Dance and Eagle Tail Dance
  • Special appearance by Miss cherokki 2009, Rachel Hicks
