Requests for Lists/Label Files

Faculty and administrators may request lists or label files for approved university purposes.  These requests must follow the guidelines of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA/The Buckley Amendment).  We are unable to provide information that is considered to be "non-directory" e.g. grade point averages, ethnicity, etc.

We are sorry, but we are unable to release address information to off-campus requestors  The campus UPS office will assist approved requestors by placing mailers in all the campus PO boxes.

Lists and/or label files requested by student organizations must be requested by the faculty sponsor of the organization.

Please use the form provided at Info Central/Forms and Documents/Registrar/Request for Lists or Label files.  You may email the form to registrar@wfu.edu.

"Helpful Hints" for getting what you really need!

Use the form provided and fill it out as thoroughly as possible--there's practically no such thing as being "too specific".  For example:

  • "Freshmen" could be defined various ways: all first-time students, including or not including transfers; by number of credits/hours earned.
  • "Seniors" could be those graduating at a certain time; all level-4 students, graduating or not; etc.
  • "All Students":  Do you really want "all" Students? Perhaps you need only degree-seeking students or perhaps only undergraduates or·?
  • Requests made during summer semesters should specify whether to include either/both summer sessions or if the following fall term is all that's needed.
  • Indicate how the list/labels should be sorted.  The Post Office prefers that bulk mailings be sorted in PO Box order.  However, it is possible, when necessary, to sort by other criteria such as alpha, student-level, etc.
  • Should the list/labels reflect the home address or the local address?
  • Be sure to provide the contact person's name and phone number.  We will be in touch when your request is ready or if we have questions.
  • Please do not request information earlier than 2 weeks before your mailing is to be sent to ensure the most up-to-date address information.
  • Please allow 1 working week to process your request.
