| What Goes On In DaleLab?
As noted in my research interests summary, my work focuses on attention and on memory. My work on these topics often involves what my lab has come to call "daletasks." A “daletask” is a typical response time experiment with college students such as visual search (is there an X in the display?) or a flanker task (classify the center letter). They tend to be fairly simple and involve a lot of trials. While doing these may not be particularly fascinating for the participants, the results can be quite interesting and informative for the lab members – see the lab photos link.
In addition to straightforward experiments with college students, we also make use of special populations (Parkinson's disease patients, thalamic stroke patients, older adults and young children) and other experimental procedures (for example, fMRI) to puruse issues in attention and memory.
