This colloquium is the first of several focussing on research by WFU students and faculty. Several students who participated in research this summer will present short reports on their experiences. The remaining time will be used by physics faculty members to present short overviews of their research programs in the Physics Department -- providing an opportunity for new students to learn about interesting research ideas, for continuing students to learn about what their professor think about their research, and for faculty to learn about what their colleagues are doing.
