ABSTRACT

Two studies exploring the dynamics and electrostatics of proteins and their links shall be presented. The first explains the origin of the unusual photochemistry of the blue-fluorescent antibodies to trans-stilbene, in which the protein plays the role of a heterogeneous solvent with temperature dependent dynamics. The second study will explore recent work in dramatically improving the accuracy and robustness of the Generalized Born solvation model, which substantially increases the size of problems which can be addressed with accurate electrostatic solvation models.
