The Physics Department has many opportunities for undergraduate students (as
well as graduate students) to participate in research. Some of the projects
in experimental physics will be described in this session.
Some of the theoretical and computational projects will be described in
the following week.
Our newest faculty member -- Jeremy Qualls is still setting up
his laboratory -- so he will use a brief seminar format to describe his work on
developing new materials and studying their properties using strong
magnetic fields.
Following Jeremy's presentation, we will have a tour of the experimental labs,
in two smaller groups with an approximate schedule as follows:
| GROUP 1 | GROUP 2 |
| 4:00 Keith Bonin, Rm 200 | 4:00 George Holzwarth, Rm 213 |
| 4:10 Dany Kim-Shapiro, Rm 202 | 4:10 Rick Matthews, Rm 216 |
| 4:20 Richard Williams, Rm 209 | 4:20 Keith Bonin, Rm 200 |
| 4:30 Howard Shields, Rm 205 | 4:30 Dany Kim-Shapiro, Rm 202 |
