TITLE:
"Study of excited states of defects by
quantum cluster approaches: recent work on scintillators CsX:M+"
SPEAKER: Professor Augustin K. S. Song,

PLACE: George P. Williams, Jr. Lecture Hall, (Olin 101)
There are many important processes taking place under electronic excitation of a solid. These include radiation damage creation, luminescence of various types, and atomic motions (the most famous example being the latent image formation in AgBr), to name a few. A brief description of various approaches designed to study and calculate the excited systems is presented, followed by a presentation of recent work on the self-trapped excitons in Cs-halides.
