The Sundance Plaza Hotel

The Sundance is a commercial hotel located just off the university campus, and offers a number of contrasts and choices relative to the Polo residence. While Polo is more economical for single guests, it may be more economical for couples and families to stay in the Sundance Hotel. Sundance offers the service and amenities of a commercial hotel including a pool, jacuzzi, day spa, meditation alcoves, and exercise room as well as a restaurant with patio dining. Wireless internet access extends throughout the hotel. The Sundance Hotel is holding a block of 80 rooms (specify king bed or 2 double beds) for the SCINT 2007 conference, at a price of $82.99 plus tax, (tax is 13% in 2006). This price includes continental breakfast. Transportation to and from the airport can be arranged with the hotel for $25 per person each way. (Watch for future announcements on conference transport from the airport.) The Sundance hotel is in a busy traffic area (University Parkway & Deacon Blvd.) with bars & restaurants and the sports arena complexes nearby. The center of Winston-Salem is located 5 km south directly along University Parkway/Marshall Street. The conference site is somewhat more distant from Sundance than from Polo Residence, but both are in walking distance. Transportation to the conference site from the Sundance will be provided at a few set times (morning and evening), but otherwise it is a 2 km walk along Faculty Drive when that gate is open (morning to early evening) and a 2.4 km walk via the University Parkway entrance to campus at other hours.

Please indicate as early as possible on the pre-registration form your choice of housing. Reservations should be made directly with the Sundance Plaza Hotel by phone or fax (use +1 336 723 2911 for either). Specify that you are with the "Physics Conference - SCINT 2007" at Wake Forest University to get the conference rate. Reservations need to be guaranteed with a credit card. Cancellation more than 72 hours in advanced of scheduled check-in avoids a penalty, which is otherwise typically the first-night's charge. The SCINT block of rooms will be closed to reservation after May 3, 2007 or upon filling up if sooner.
