THE INTERPLAY BETWEEN SCIENCE AND RELIGION IN WESTERN CULTURE
Professor Paul Anderson, Department of Physics
Professor Jed Macosko, Department of Physics
Both science and religion are deeply involved in the search for truth but their methods are very different. As a result, the interplay between science and religion is sometimes positive and sometimes negative. In this course the interplay between science and religion in western culture will be studied from a historical perspective. Topics covered in the course will include the Copernican Revolution, the trial of Galileo, and the conflict between regular science and creation science in the past century leading up to the recent intelligent design movement.
