Research Interests
The Physics Department offers outstanding research opportunities to graduate and undergraduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the core areas of nano-technology, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and gravitation and particle physics lead by faculty members who are at the forefront of their fields. Complementary computational and experimental efforts are ongoing in most of these areas. Faculty collaborate extensively with researchers at the Wake Forest Medical School and at other universities and national laboratories, so graduate students can interact with interdisciplinary research groups. Graduate and undergraduate majors, as well as post-doctoral researchers, can take advantage of state-of-the-art research facilities, such as the Center for Nanotechnology and Molecular Materials, the Center for Structural Biology, and high performance scientific computing facilities. Each research area is described in more detail below.
