Requesting Demos
and Demo Information:
Demonstrations requests should be submitted 24 hrs in advance.
This is so the Lab Manager has time to set-up and check the working condition
of the demo. Demo requests submitted later than this will
be filled if possible, but no guarentees are made!
Submitting a request:
- Email the Lab
Manager with your request. Please include the title of the demo,
your class time and date.
OR
- Phone the Lab Manager at x5532. Again, please include the title of
the demo, your class time and date.
Demonstration setup:
Demos for the first lecture of the day will be set up in the lecture
room the previous afternoon (friday afternoon for Monday morning demos).
Demos for later lectures will be out and stored on a tabletop in the demo
room (101A), but may not be set up. If you feel you require special
"practice", arrangements can be made with the Lab
Manager .
Requesting the construction of a new demo:
New demos are always being investigated. If you have a good
idea, let the Lab
Manager know and arrange a time to discuss the construction and possible
uses.
Resources:
Wake Forest University demos are being updated online on a continuing
basis. Those demos that are used on a regular basis (i.e. by more
than one person) are listed on the web with pictures and videos when available.
Check out our online
demos!
PIRA (Physics Instructors Resource Association) also has an extensive
online demo list, although
each entry is not quite as informative as ours. Still, its a good
place to look for new ideas or to find that "perfect" demo.
Note: This site also explains the basis of the joint
PIRA/AAPT project known as the DCS (Demonstration Classification System).
