Overview

Tim Summers graduated from Wake Forest University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics.  In 1997, he completed his MBA also at Wake Forest University. 

Tim began his career serving for seven years as an Army aviator flying CH-47 “Chinook” helicopters.  He was stationed in Alabama, Hawaii, and North Carolina.

In 1990, Tim joined Siecor, which later became Corning Cable Systems, a manufacturer of fiber optic cable and ancillary products. He began as an Applications Engineer and later supervisor of that department.  In 1996, he moved to the Marketing department managing various fiber optic cable product lines for both domestic and international markets.  In 2005, Tim assumed the role of Integration Manager responsible for formulating Corning’s joint venture with Hitachi in Japan.  He currently holds the position of Invention Disclosure Manager overseeing Corning Cable System’s global invention and patenting processes.

Tim is happily married and has two children.  His interests include church activities, running, in-line skating, and reading.  He currently resides in Hickory, North Carolina.
