Wake Forest appoints Perry Patterson associate dean, academic advising

Wake Forest University has appointed Perry L. Patterson as associate dean for academic advising.
As associate dean, Patterson leads a newly-established Office of Academic Advising in the Office of the Dean of the College. Starting this fall semester, the Academic Advising office will assign an academic counselor to every new undergraduate. The new students will have an academic counselor throughout their undergraduate years. In addition, students will have faculty and student advisors.
Patterson will continue as professor of economics at Wake Forest. He is also a lecturer in Russian and has served as a core faculty member in women’s and gender studies. Patterson joined Wake Forest’s economics faculty in 1986. Previously, he chaired Wake Forest’s Committee on Orientation and Lower Division Advising.
He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and Russian at Indiana University and a Master of Arts and doctorate in economics at Northwestern University. He also studied at Leningrad State University.
