June 12, 2009
Three Wake Forest University graduates have been selected to study abroad as Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars during the 2009-2010 academic year. The recipients are:
- Nora Ellen Brickhouse of Winston-Salem, who will study social sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico in Mexico City.
- Kristen Elizabeth Gentry of Knoxville, Tenn., who will study with the Languages Abroad program in Rabat, Morocco.
- Robert Palmer of Avon Lake, Fla., who will study at the Universidad de Concepción in Chile.
The Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships were founded in 1947. The program focuses on humanitarian service, personal diplomacy and academic excellence. During their time abroad, the scholars participate in community service projects and speak at local Rotary club events. Last year’s program selected nearly 700 scholars to study in more than 60 countries.
