Wake Forest opens new Deacon Shop at Reynolda Village

April 3, 2009

Wake Forest University opened The Deacon Shop at Reynolda Village on April 3.  The store, which offers Wake Forest merchandise ranging from clothing to jewelry to gift items, is in the university’s Reynolda Village.  Located on Reynolda Road adjacent to the entrance to Wake Forest, Reynolda Village is a collection of retail shops, restaurants and offices.

Kenneth Basch, executive director of Wake Forest properties, welcomed The Deacon Shop as part of the revitalization process underway in Reynolda Village.  “The Deacon Shop is a perfect fit for the type of retail mix and vitality that we want in the village,” said Basch, “and it aligns Reynolda Village more closely with Wake Forest.”

Buz Moser, executive director of business services at Wake Forest, said that almost all of the merchandise offered at the Reynolda Village shop will be different from that offered at the other Deacon Shops on the university’s Hearn Plaza and in Hanes Mall.

Some of the items unique to the Reynolda Village shop will include the new “1834 Collection,” which is an exclusive line of apparel for men, women and children, including polo shirts, sweaters and sundresses.  The name of the clothing line refers to the year Wake Forest University was founded.  RingMaster Jewelers, also located in Reynolda Village, has designed a specialty line of fine charms, earrings, cufflinks and necklaces for sale only at The Deacon Shop at Reynolda Village.  Specially-designed Riedel crystal, Mont Blanc pens and Waterman pens will also be available.  In addition, The Deacon Shop at Reynolda Village has partnered with local vintners for private label wines that are expected to be available at a later date.  Raylen Vineyards will produce “Demon Red” and Shelton Vineyards will produce “Deacon White” wines for sale at the shop.

The Deacon Shop at Reynolda Village is located at 120-A Reynolda Village.  Store hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.  The shop will open for extended hours during special events such as homecoming and commencement weekends.
