Expert on mass media, modernist literature, to speak at Wake Forest University

Debra Rae Cohen, assistant professor of English at the University of South Carolina, will present a talk titled “Sound Ideas:  Between the Bowery and the BBC” at 4:30 p.m. March 26 in Tribble Hall, Room C-216, at Wake Forest University.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Wake Forest English department.

Cohen is a former journalist and music critic whose reviews have appeared in the Village Voice and Rolling Stone magazine.  She is the author of “Remapping the Home Front: Locating Citizenship in British Women’s Great War Fiction” and is co-editor of the forthcoming collection “Broadcasting Modernism.”

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and her doctorate from the University of Mississippi.
