Wake Forest to test outdoor alert system again
March 6, 2009
Wake Forest University will conduct a test of its new outdoor emergency alert system, which was installed last year and first tested last December.
The test will take place at 11 a.m. March 10.
During the testing, the alert system will produce the sound of chimes initially, followed by a voice announcement proclaiming, “This is a test of the Wake Forest University Emergency Alert System. This is only a test.”
The noise produced during the testing will be projected from three towers on campus. They are located on Davis Field along Wake Forest Road near Scales Fine Arts Center, behind Kentner Stadium near the tennis courts, and along Wingate Road near the Facilities Management and University Police offices.
The outdoor alert system was installed as part of the university’s continuing effort to increase the number of methods for alerting the university community to emergencies.
