Wake Forest charges two students with filing false report to police
November 13, 2008
The Wake Forest University Police Department charged two Wake Forest students Nov. 12 with filing a false report of an armed robbery. The students reported to Wake Forest police that they had been robbed early in the morning on Nov. 6 as they jogged on a paved path that leads from Wake Forest’s Reynolda Campus to neighboring Reynolda Village.
The university’s police department served the students with a misdemeanor criminal summons after consulting with the Forsyth County District Attorney’s office. They are scheduled to appear in District Court in Forsyth County on Dec. 8.
Wake Forest announced Nov. 11 that an investigation by its police department had determined that the armed robbery never occurred. Wake Forest has also referred the matter to the university’s Office of the Dean of Students for appropriate action.
