Advisory: Project Pumpkin's 20th anniversary
October 27, 2008
More than 1,000 children from 40 community agencies will descend on Wake Forest University’s Hearn Plaza for an afternoon of Halloween games and trick-or-treating from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. October 28. The theme for this year’s Project Pumpkin is “20 Years of Magic,” an anniversary celebration with a fantasy theme.
Interviews and morning show segments with Project Pumpkin’s student organizers and participating agency representatives can be arranged. Students will decorate the plaza beginning at 5 a.m. Oct. 28. In the afternoon, media representatives must check in at the media table in front of Wait Chapel to receive a press kit and find out which children cannot be photographed. Student organizers for Project Pumpkin are available for interviews throughout the day.
The event was started by a Wake Forest student in 1989 and is sponsored by the university’s Volunteer Service Corps. It is designed to provide a safe haven for Halloween fun for children invited from different Winston-Salem agencies. It is not open to the general public.
