Wake Forest ranks 12th in the country among top colleges for black students in a new survey by Black Enterprise magazine.
Black Enterprise magazine’s list of the “Top 50 Colleges for African Americans” is posted online at http://www.blackenterprise.com/lists/college.asp and will appear in the September issue of the magazine.
The list includes private and public institutions. Wake Forest is the highest-ranked North Carolina university on the list.
Black Enterprise magazine surveyed more than 700 black higher education professionals, including presidents, chancellors and student affairs directors who were asked to assess the social and academic environments for black students at the nation’s colleges and universities. The number of black undergraduate students as a percentage of total undergraduates and graduation rates for black students were also considered.
Wake Forest ranked 22nd on the 2006 list.
