WFU phone system to be upgraded this weekend

May 20, 2008

Wake Forest University will have a planned telephone outage in order to replace the campus voicemail system and perform maintenance on the telecommunication system.  Beginning at 8 p.m. May 23 and continuing until 8 a.m. May 26, no phone or voicemail service will be available on the Reynolda Campus.  The outage will affect all telephone numbers beginning with ‘758,’  including Reynolda House Museum of American Art, which is affiliated with Wake Forest.

This outage is necessary to complete replacement of telecommunication hardware and software.  The upgrade is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend in order to inconvenience the least number of people.  The first summer session classes begin May 27.

Anyone calling the main campus number, 336-758-5000, will hear a brief recording saying, “The Wake Forest University telephone system is currently unavailable.  If this is an emergency, you may call Campus Police at 759-0443.”
