Local resident receives Greene Scholarship at Wake Forest University

Three juniors who were inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wake Forest University April 16 have been awarded G.W. Greene Scholarships.
The recipients are:
- Anna Christine Fedders, a chemistry and biochemistry major from Beckley, W.Va.
- Samantha Ashton Heuertz, a biology major from Charlotte, N.C.
- Glenn (Yan) Zhao, a biology major from Nashville, Tenn.
The scholarship is awarded to the junior or juniors with the highest academic average overall and includes up to $3,500 toward their senior year.
The award was established in 1997 by Dr. and Mrs. W. Donald Moore in honor of Dr. Moore’s grandfather, the Rev. George W. Greene. Dr. Moore was in the first group of Phi Beta Kappa members to be inducted at Wake Forest in 1941.
Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious undergraduate honors organization.
