WFU guest lecturer to discuss the existence of God
March 18, 2008
William Lane Craig, research professor of philosophy at Biola University’s Talbot School of Theology, will present a lecture titled “Why Does Anything at All Exist?” at 7 p.m. March 28 in Pugh Auditorium at the Benson University Center at Wake Forest University.
Craig was selected Honorary Carswell Lecturer for the 2007-2008 Philosophy Lecture series. Craig is author of more than 30 books, including “Assessing the New Testament Evidence for the Historicity of the Resurrection of Jesus” and “Theism, Atheism and Big Bang Cosmology.”
“The fact that the universe or anything at all exists is deeply puzzling,” says Craig. “This talk examines the claim that something exists because God, a necessary being, exists.”
Craig has engaged in public debates with prominent philosophers, scientists and biblical scholars on issues ranging from intelligent design and the Big Bang theory to the existence of God and the physical resurrection of Jesus.
The talk is sponsored by the Wake Forest Department of Philosophy, and is free and open to the public. More information, including directions, can be found online at www.wfu.edu/philosophy/talk_craig.html.
