WFU phone system to be upgraded this weekend

March 5, 2008

Wake Forest University will have a planned telephone outage in order to upgrade the campus phone system.  Beginning at 8 p.m. on March 7 and continuing until March 10 at 8 a.m., no phone or voicemail service will be available on the Reynolda Campus, affecting all academic, administrative and athletic phone numbers beginning with ‘758.’  The outage will also affect Reynolda House Museum of American Art, which is affiliated with Wake Forest.

This outage is necessary to complete a required upgrade of telecommunications hardware and software.  The upgrade was scheduled for the first weekend of Spring Break in order to inconvenience the least number of people.  Spring Break runs from March 8 through March 16.

Anyone calling a number with a 758 prefix will hear a brief recording saying, “The Wake Forest University phone system is being upgraded and unavailable Friday evening, March 7 until Monday, March 10 at 8 a.m.  If this is an emergency you may call campus police at 336-759-0443.”  University police can also be reached at 336-251-2925.  As soon as service is restored, the message will be discontinued.

Information about campus events and activities may be found online at  Reynolda House Museum of American Art information may be found online at or by calling 336-602-3154 (during the outage).
