Patterson, Gilliland join Wake Forest's finance staff

Wake Forest University has named Sharon E. Patterson as associate vice president for finance and Brandon E. Gilliland as controller.
Patterson, who will join the Wake Forest staff in January, is associate vice president for finance, controller and treasurer at California Institute of Technology.
At Wake Forest, she will oversee the Controller’s office, debt and risk management programs and the operations of the university stores.
Formerly, she was deputy controller at the University of Colorado, associate controller at New York University and controller at Wheaton College. She also worked in public accounting.
Patterson received a Master of Business Administration degree at Providence College and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at Bryant College.
Gilliland, who joined the Wake Forest staff in November, was the controller at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. At Wake Forest, he will focus on accounting and internal controls, while overseeing the Financial and Accounting Services department.
Previously, he was dean of finance and controller at Indian River Community College in Florida, a senior consultant and auditor for Ernst and Young, finance administrator at Oklahoma State University at Tulsa and a buyer for the City of Tulsa.
Gilliland received a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of Tulsa and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree at Northeastern University.
