WFU Visiting professor to read poetry

David Biespiel, adjunct professor of English and visiting poet-in-residence at Wake Forest University, will read from his published collections at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in Tribble Hall’s Ammons Lounge (Room A107). The event is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow the reading.
Biespiel’s books of poetry include “Shattering Air,” “Pilgrims and Beggars” and "Wild Civility.” Among his honors are a Lannan Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in literature and the Wallace Stegner Fellowship in poetry at Stanford University. He is editor of Poetry Northwest and a contributor to American Poetry Review, Parnassus, Poetry, and The New Republic.
The event is part of the fall 2007 Dillon Johnston Writers Reading Series sponsored by the English department. Future authors and dates in the series include:
- George Singleton, fiction writer, Oct. 25, 2 p.m, Ammons Lounge.
- Sam Weller, biographer, with science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury via teleconference, Nov. 7, 7:30 p.m., location to be announced. Weller’s appearance is co-sponsored by the Film Studies Program and the E.E. Folk Fund.
