Fall Writers Reading Series opens with South African novelist

South African novelist Sheila Kohler will kick off the fall 2007 Dillon Johnston Writers Reading Series at Wake Forest University with a reading and book discussion at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 in Tribble Hall’s DeTamble Auditorium.

Kohler is the author of six novels, including her latest, “Bluebird, or The Invention of Happiness.”  She has also published two story collections and contributed essays for The Boston Globe, Salmagundi and O Magazine.

Following the reading and discussion, the author will be available to sign copies of her books.

The Dillon Johnston Writers Reading Series is sponsored by the English department, and Kohler’s visit to Wake Forest is co-sponsored by the Women’s and Gender Studies program.  Additional author appearances will be announced as they are confirmed.  All readings in the series are free and open to the public.  For more information, call (336) 758-5383.
