Wake Forest Music Department announces September concerts

Wake Forest University’s Department of Music begins the 2007-2008 academic year with three concerts in September. All events are held in Brendle Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.
Sept. 9: Faculty Recital by Pamela Howland, 3 p.m.
Pianist Pamela Howland, music department faculty member at Wake Forest, will perform music by Joplin, Gershwin, Chopin, Debussy and others.
Sept. 23: Faculty Chamber Music Concert, 3 p.m.
Cellist Selina Carter, pianist Marlene Hoirup and harpist Helen Rifas, all music department faculty members at Wake Forest, will play chamber music selections from Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Gabriel Fauré and Max Bruch.
Sept. 25: Faculty Recital with Louis Goldstein, 8 p.m.
Louis Goldstein, pianist and music department faculty member at Wake Forest, will perform recent American piano music, including “Scrape the Colour” by Wake Forest alumnus Andrew Estel and Aaron Copland’s 20th-century classic, “Piano Sonata.”
