WFU provost's office announces appointments

Wake Forest University has appointed three faculty members as associate provosts.
Longtime physics professor and department chair Rick Matthews will succeed Sam Gladding as associate provost. Matthews, who has served on numerous university committees and councils, will focus on strategic planning and faculty issues such as promotion and tenure. Gladding is stepping down July 1 to serve full time as chair and professor of counseling.
Kahle Family Associate Professor of History Michele Gillespie will become associate provost for academic initiatives. She has served most recently on the College strategic planning committee and the University Senate.
Kemper Professor of Business L. Kline Harrison will become associate provost for international affairs. He has served as associate dean in the Calloway School of Business and Accountancy and brings to the post a well-recognized commitment to international education and cross-cultural learning.
Harrison begins his three-year term July 1, while Matthews and Gillespie begin their terms August 1.
