'Dead Man Walking' author to speak at Wake Forest
Sister Helen Prejean, a death penalty opponent whose writings inspired the film "Dead Man Walking,” will speak at Wake Forest University April 4. Prejean will speak at 7 p.m. in Wait Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. Her lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a booksigning. She is the author of “Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States” and “The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions.” Originally, she had been scheduled to speak at Wake Forest in February.
