'Dead Man Walking' author to speak at Wake Forest
March 23, 2007
Sister Helen Prejean, a death penalty opponent whose writings inspired the film "Dead Man Walking,” will speak at Wake Forest University April 4.
Prejean will speak at 7 p.m. in Wait Chapel. The event is free and open to the public.
Her lecture will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a booksigning.
She is the author of “Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States” and “The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions.”
Originally, she had been scheduled to speak at Wake Forest in February. That appearance was rescheduled when nationwide airline travel delays made it impossible for her to arrive on time for her appearance.
