Wake Forest team wins junior varsity debate national title

Two members of the Wake Forest University debate team won the Junior Varsity National Championship held March 3-5 at the University of West Virginia.

Lauren Sabino, a sophomore from Canton, Ohio, and Kurt Woolford, a freshman from Wichita, Kan., won the tournament by defeating Binghamton University in the final round.

The championship tournament is open to first and second year debaters at colleges and universities across the country.

Wake Forest freshmen Elise MacNamara of Miami, Fla., and Hannah Rothman of Bronx, N.Y., reached the top 16.
