November 15, 2006
Thomas K. Hearn Jr., president emeritus of Wake Forest University, will be presented a lifetime achievement award Nov. 20 in Greensboro at the Triad National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon.
Hearn, who retired as Wake Forest’s president in 2005 after 22 years in office, will be one of 10 honorees to be presented awards in various categories at the event. The ceremony is presented by the N.C. Triad Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
Speed-skating Olympic gold medalist Joey Cheek will be the luncheon’s keynote speaker. More than 300 community leaders are expected to attend the event.
Earlier this month, Hearn received the North Carolina Award, the state’s highest civilian honor, at a Raleigh ceremony. The state award recognized Hearn for his public service.
