Cease and Karo featured at first annual comedy show
October 24, 2006
The Wake Forest University Student Union will host its first annual Comedy Show featuring Kyle Cease and Aaron Karo at 8 p.m. Nov. 1 in Wait Chapel.
Originally a stand-up comedian in New York City, Karo has earned acclaim for his books “Ruminations on College Life” and “Ruminations on Twenty-Something Life,” both of which originated from his e-mail based column “Ruminations.” While a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, Karo began writing the column about various observations on college life. It was e-mailed to roughly 20 friends. Upon his graduation, the column was so popular it had a mailing list with over 45,000 subscribers.
In addition to his books, Karo also regularly contributes to the Web site CollegeHumor.
Cease began his comedy career at age seven while performing for his grade school classes. By age 18, he was the youngest headlining comedian in the Northwest United States. Cease is best known for his role as Bogey Lowenstein, a nerdy future MBA in the hit movie “10 Things I Hate About You.” He has also appeared as “The Slow Clapper” in Columbia Pictures’ “Not Another Teen Movie.”
Tickets are $10; $7 for students. For tickets, contact the Benson University Center Ticket Office at (336) 758-4265.
