Ghost chaser/author Michael Renegar signs books, seeks stories
October 23, 2006
Michael Renegar, author of “Roadside Revenants and Other North Carolina Ghosts and Legends” and self-proclaimed ghost hunter, will sign copies of his book at Wake Forest University’s College Bookstore at 2 p.m. Oct. 31. The bookstore is located on Hearn Plaza adjacent to Wait Chapel.
Renegar is currently working on his second book and is seeking new material. He encourages those with ghost stories, especially never-before-published accounts, to attend the signing and share their tales.
Renegar, who researches ghost stories scientifically, is known for telling the stories in the emotional voices of those who lived through them.
He is a long-time resident of East Bend, North Carolina, and a graduate of Forbush High School and Appalachian State University (ASU). His interest in ghosts and legends began at an early age due, in part, to his family’s storytelling tradition, which included harrowing ghost stories. His interest was renewed when he lived in the supposedly haunted East Residence Hall at ASU. It was then that he began researching local “haunts” with friends and writing articles about their experiences.
