Wake Forest Gospel Choir presents 'live worship'
October 23, 2006
The Wake Forest University Gospel Choir will present its annual Fall Extravaganza Concert at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5 in Brendle Recital Hall. Admission is free and the community is invited to attend. The theme of this year’s concert is “Live Worship.”
Directed by Wake Forest senior Orita McCorkle, the choir will perform works by Tye Tribbett, Byron Cage and New Direction.
The Gospel Choir was founded in 1974 by a Wake Forest student. Since then, it has become an active ministry of song, service and outreach.
Traditionally, the group performs two concerts annually and a concert tour during spring break. The choir released its first CD, “There’s a Song in My Heart,” in 2000. “Vertical Worship,” the group’s second CD, was released in the spring of 2005 and features original songs written by choir members.
