Advisory: Wake Forest hosts Project Pumpkin Oct. 26
October 19, 2006
Wake Forest University’s 18th annual Project Pumpkin will be held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 26 on Hearn Plaza between Wait Chapel and Reynolda Hall. The event, sponsored by the Volunteer Service Corps, will treat nearly 1,000 children from dozens of community agencies to Halloween fun. This year’s theme is “Under the Big Top.”
The event will include carnival games, face painting, haunted houses and other entertainment. Costumed volunteers will escort children through residence halls for trick-or-treating.
Entertainment will include several student performance groups, including a capella groups Chi Rho, Minor Variations, Innuendo and the Demon Divas. Two dance groups, the Unified Rhythms and the WF Tappers, will also perform. A “mad scientist” will perform experiments in his campus “laboratory.” Theta Chi and Sigma Pi will have haunted houses in their lounges. Wake Forest athletes will lead “Dizzy Bat” relays, and the Demon Deacon will be on hand.
To arrange coverage, contact Pam Barrett at (336) 758-5237.
Note: This is a community service event for children from invited agencies. It is NOT open to the general public. Media representatives must check in at the media table in front of Wait Chapel to receive a press kit and find out which children cannot be photographed.
