Wake Forest music department announces September concerts

Wake Forest University’s Department of Music begins the 2006-2007 academic year with four concerts in September. All events are held in Brendle Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.
Sept. 9: Guest Recital with Raymond Bjorling and Peter Kairoff, 8 p.m.
Tenor Raymond Bjorling of Stockholm, Sweden, and pianist Peter Kairoff performing songs and arias by artists including Johannes Brahms and Giacomo Puccini.
Sept. 14: The Emerson Quartet, Secrest Artists Series, 7:30 p.m.
Renowned Emerson String Quartet, featuring guest pianist Menahem Pressler, performing Mozart and Brahms. Violinist Lawrence Dutton is recovering from shoulder surgery and will not perform.
Sept. 23: Faculty Recital with John Pruett and Mary Ann Bills, 8 p.m.
John Pruett, guest artist, performing with Mary Ann Bills, music department faculty member at Wake Forest. Bills will perform on harpsichord, fortepiano and piano.
Sept. 24: Rossignol Renaissance Trio, 8 p.m.
The Rossignol Renaissance Trio, featuring Stewart Carter, professor of music at Wake Forest, and guests Patricia Petersen and Douglas Young, performing 13th- and 14th-century music on various Baroque and Renaissance instruments.
