daeCarroll Research Group

NANOTECH @ WFU

The group of Prof. Carroll focuses on the synthesis and applications of novel nanomaterials. We are particularly interested in how nanocomposites can be used to make high performance organicdevices such as photovoltaics, lighting and display systems, and sensors. On another front, we are examining how nanomaterials might play a role in future biomedical applications; the so called "nanomedicine." What distinguishes our group from most others is that nearly 80% of our effort centers around engineered applications of the nanosciences. 20% of our effort is dedicated to fundamental research.

Group Meetings

Group meetings: Nanotech Lecture Hall
, Fridays @ 8:30 am

(our group meetings are open to all members of the Nanotech Center. Coffee and doughnuts are provided)

Collaborators

Massey University: Our friends in New Zealand. Though our collaboration is relatively new, it has already brought many exciting new avenues for the group.

Trinity College Dublin:   The original work on EAP polymer nanocomposites was done in collaboration with this group.  We maintain strong ties.

Rice: Professor Ajayan is a long time friend and collaborator. His lab continues to be one of our most fruitful interactions.

MPI-Stuttgart: MPI is one of the premier research labs world-wide.  Our group has had long standing joint programs with both of Stuttgart's MPI
