NanoMedicine @ Wake Forest University

Nanotechnology is helping address the needs of accident and trauma

With one of nation's premier medical facilities, Wake Forest University continues to push the state of the art in bringing new technologies to the clinic. In cases of severe trauma, minutes can make all the difference. Working together with the Orthopaedics and the Wound Center of WFUBMC, Nanotech researchers are developing technologies that allow for rapid accessment and response to trauma.

New Technologies

NanoTorr micron-sized, injectable pressure sensors that read-out optically through the skin of the patient.

Antimicrobial topicals that help stablize against infection in wounds

Coating systems for implants that mitigate infection

Novel high strength bone cements for bone repair

Biosensors for rapid identification of pathegens
