Mr. Morgan began his professional music career as an undergraduate at the esteemed Appalachian State University (ASU), in Boone, North Carolina.  While at ASU, Mr. Morgan completed the requirements as a participant in the prestigious North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program, and ultimately graduated Cum Laude in 1993, with a Bachelor of Instrumental Music Degree.  After his tenure at ASU, Philip Morgan proudly served North Carolina and Cabarrus County Schools as the Director of Bands at Concord High School (CHS) and Middle School (CMS) for 12 years where he directed all levels of music instruction from beginning band to advanced performance ensembles including Jazz Band, Marching Band, Winter Guard, Winter Drumline, Percussion Ensemble and Chamber Wind groups.   Under his direction the CHS / CMS Bands earned over eighty five superior ratings in multiple venues of performance across the United States, England, Ireland, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.  In 1994, Mr. Morgan was appointed Conductor and US/ North Carolina Cultural Ambassador to Ireland by Governor Jim Hunt.  Mr. Morgan is a former Graduate Assistant with the venerated Western Carolina University (WCU) Music Department/ Athletic Bands having completed a Masters of Arts in Education (MAEd) in Comprehensive Instrumental Music.  After completing his MAEd, Mr. Morgan served as Associate Conductor and Adjunct Music Faculty at WCU directing the Symphonic Band and assisting the Instrumental Music Education Department.  His Study of Music/ Performance has included instruction by Bob Buckner, Matt Henley, Dr. John West, Dr. Michael Shallock, Dr. Bruce Frazier, Dr. Bill Gora, Dr. Joe Brashier, Dr, Jay Jackson, Dr. Scott Meister, Dr. Harvey Warner, Todd Wright, Michael Burritt, Peter Erskine, Dave Weckl, Bill Watrous, David Holsinger, Elliot Del Borgo, and Sir Francis McBeth.

Mr. Morgan has received the NC Excellence in Performance Award, the Time Warner Star Teacher Award, and Who's Who Among American Teachers Award.   He has instructed/ conducted numerous honor band clinics and adjudicated for concert bands and marching bands throughout the Southeastern United States.  Mr. Morgan is highly sought after as a drill designer and arranger for marching bands across the country.  Mr. Morgan has also given numerous lectures and paper presentations based upon both his own published and non-published works.  His Professional affiliations include Gamma Beta Phi, Alpha Chi, Phi Eta Sigma, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi, MENC, CBDNA, NCAE, and NCMEA.
