Bama Lutes Deal, B.A., M.M. and Ph.D.( Florida State University), teaches music appreciation at Wake Forest University. An accomplished horn player, she performed regularly with regional orchestras, ballet and opera companies, and chamber music ensembles in southeast Florida before moving to North Carolina in 2001. Her research specialization is the operatic repertoire of late-eighteenth and early nineteenth-century Czech and German theater companies, and the early career of German composer Carl Maria von Weber. Dr. Deal also teaches music research/bibliography and music history courses at the UNCG School of Music.
