Guest Artist/Alumna Recital: Laura Ingram Semilian, soprano
with Jean T. Blackwood, piano.
Presenting Hungarian folk songs collected and arranged by composers and pioneering ethnomusicologists Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók. Ingram Semilian holds the MA in history from Wake Forest, where she studied with Teresa Radomski. She also holds the MM in opera from UNC School of the Arts, and subsequently studied with Virginia Zeani. She has represented the Southeastern Region in the Metropolitan Opera’s national competition in New York.

"John's Passion/Bach's Passion: Religion, Performance, and Culture"
An interdisciplinary symposium on Bach's St. John Passion , co-sponsored by the WFU Humanities Institute, the WFU School of Divinity, the WFU Office of the Chaplain, the WFU Department of Religion, Interdisciplinary PLACe, Rabbi Mark Strauss-Cohn, and the Winston-Salem Symphony. The theme of this concert is "The Art of Courtly Love." The Collegium Musicum Vocal Ensemble and Collegium Instrumentalists will present an early music concert featuring Medieval and Renaissance love songs in French, German, and Spanish.
