University Orchestra Concert

The Wake Forest Orchestra will present its fall concert on December 2 at 7:30 in Brendle Recital Hall in the Scales Fine Arts Center on the Wake Forest campus. The program will be the result of a semester of work and will follow on the annual Halloween concert done at midnight. The program this year includes Rossini’s Overture to The Barber of Seville, Paul Hindemith’s Five Pieces for String Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky’s Second Symphony. Admission is free and seating is open.
Holiday Choral Concert

The ensembles of the Choral Department at Wake Forest University will
present music for the holiday season at this traditional annual event. The admission charge for this concert will help cover Concert Choir’s travel expenses when the group takes its second international tour to Italy in March 2010. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $10 for adults and $5 for students. Wake Forest students will be admitted free with ID cards. Anyone wishing to reserve tickets may do so by calling the Music Department Office at 758-5364. The featured selections will be Giancarlo Aquilanti’s new setting of Ubi Caritas sung by Concert Choir, Dan Locklair’s seasonal anthem A Christmas Carol presented by the Collegium Vocal Ensemble, and Seattle composer Lockrem Johnson’s A Suite of Noels performed by the Wake Forest Chorale. Concert Choir and Chorale will combine to close the program with Jeffrey Van’s beautiful Treasures and Gifts for chorus and harp.
