MLK Day of Service Read-In
- The WFU Office of Multicultural Affairs parners with a number of university and community organizations to host the MLK Day of Service Read-In, part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service. The purpose of the event is to celebrate Dr. King’s life and promote his message about civil rights, literacy and the importance of community service. The MLK Read-In is organized by the following partners: Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, Girl Talk Triad Chapter and HandsOn Northwest North Carolina.
- Each year the WFU Office of Multicultural Affairs hosts a large-scale gospel celebration, in honor of the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr. This event features a major gospel artist each year, and WFU’s own Gospel Choir. Past featured artists include Donald Lawrence, Martha Munizzi, Byron Cage, and Kim Burrell.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration and Keynote
- Each year the WFU Office of Multicultural Affairs and Winston-Salem State University collaborate to host a major celebration in honor of the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A nationally-renowned speaker is brought in to give the keynote address, and past speakers have included people such as Berniece King, Lavar Burton, Ruby Dee, and Dr. Maya Angelou. This is a free event for all.
